Snow Trip Too Small

We planned a short trip earlier in the season to bring up a load to our storage unit. Two week ago, this area had record snow of around 52 inches! We thought it might be a good time to see how the cabin fared. We packed up our winter gear for a short weekend.

Snowy potty break

We headed first to the storage unit to empty the trailer.

Task accomplished

Next we checked on our property.

Tall snow drifts!
Plowed road
Had to hike in
Snow was up to the front porch
Looks like the snow took out part of the chimney
Here it is!
Not using this door!

Other than the chimney, no other casualty!

We stayed at local cabins which made for a nice, comfortable short stay.

Home for the weekend
Our little explorer!

The next day, we had some time to enjoy the area. We headed to the Michigan State University Forestry Innovation Center for their maple weekend.

Headed to the sugarbush
Learning about sap
Syrup evaporator

According to the tour guides, it takes 40-90 gallons on sap to make one gallon of syrup. Liquid gold!

We had dinner at the Buckhorn where snowmobiles were a-plenty!

Enjoying the weather!

A short trip, but great to see the area in the winter. There is a lot to see and do! Hopefully we will have a chance to enjoy in the future! Until next time, hooha! J+M

Until next time!
