Cloudy With A Chance of… FUN!

We spent Sunday relaxing around the cabin in the morning, enjoying the chirping of the birds and the wind through the trees.

This morning we awoke ready for adventure!! We closed up the cabin and had a quick breakfast at Midway, then headed to M58 toward Grand Marais. This stretch of road is very motorcycle friendly with lots of fun twists and turns.

The log slide is a must see on this route. A short walk past logging equipment, wild flowers, and a sandy dune leading to a steep 600 ft slide to the beach.imageimageimageimage

As we turned onto 77 at Grand Marais, another black cloud appeared, and time for rain gear again…image

By the time we got to Newberry on 28, the rain was so hard, we stopped at a truck stop for a bite to eat and to wait out the rain. image

After the rain let up, we headed to Tahquamenon Falls on highway 123, another must do route on a motorcycle. imageimageimage

We watched a kayaker go over on the falls, having his own HooHa adventure, but that’s another post….

After the falls, the sun peeked out again as we rode to Whitefish Point to see the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum where you can learn about all the ships that sank in Lake Superior to the endless loop of Gordon Lightfoot’s “Edmund Fitgerald”. imageimageimageimage

With the sky getting black again, we raced away from Whitefish Point to dodge the raindrops, stopping briefly in Paradise for some fuel. image

Missing the rain, we took the Whitefish Bay Scenic Byway to Sault Ste Marie. image

The Point Iroquois lighthouse was a great stop, and a workout for the legs to climb up to the top for a great view of the ships heading to the Soo Locks. imageimageimage

We rode into Sault Ste Marie, Michigan around 8:00 pm before more rain…imageimageimage

We found a nice motel across from the locks and a restaurant with an Edmund Fitzgerald condiment tray…imageimage

A full adventure, time to dry our rain gear and head to bed… HooHa! Jef and Margi
